The Art of Music Within Me

Image
There will always be a form of art that a person can be really into, in which he/she can express him/herself or a message he/she wants to convey to its audience. In my case, ever since, music has always been the form of art that is very close to my heart. In doing the creative exercise, we were tasked to bring materials that we can use to incorporate with our arts, and what I got is just a pen and a small piece of paper. Incorporating these materials, what I did was to just write anything that pops up my mind and eventually came up with a lyric of a song. Even though I am really into the field of music, I love feeling the hype and the groove of every beat, the feels that flow within me as the rhythm of the song starts, the way singers voice out the lyrics and jamming into it, it was actually my first time writing a song as a piece of art. So, it really challenges the creativeness and the quality of being a so-called “artist” within me. As it was aforementioned, it was m...

A Friendly Reminder

As someone who doesn't consider herself as artistic or creative, this activity actually went way better that I thought it would. My hand automatically did what it had to do before my mind actually thought of something more complicated. In just about ten minutes, I was able to come up with this output:      The photo above shows my take on Calligraphy - a visual art related to writing. Written are the words pahuway anay,  which roughly translates to "rest for a while". I think that the main inspiration behind this work are the personal frustrations that I currently have. Being able to express and address my feelings in an artistic way makes me feel like I can also use art as a platform to inspire those who are currently undergoing similar situations as I am. As a "creative", it makes me feel hopeful that my art could actually have an effect other people's lives and not just bring something "visually appealing", but shallow to the t...

The thing I did is that I drew a heart and divided it into half. On the left side, I drew lines that branched out from the middle of the heart where I divided it and the spaces outside of the branches are colored black. However, the other division of the heart remained uncolored but I drew a branch that spreads out to the center and put some leaves on it. My output was a heart divided into two where the half part, black-colored,    symbolizes the people in our community who are jealous, intimidated, corrupt and etc. The branch seen on the drawing symbolizes hope that even though people may tend to be bad sometimes, there will always be a part of them that can change. And the other half, the white one symbolizes purity, love and generosity. Also, the branch with leaves symbolizes the blooming heart of kindness.               The activity made me feel somehow like an artist. I did not just draw just for the sake of passing the activty on t...

Shapes

I have read somewhere online that when you don't know what to paint, paint the sky. The clouds were dark that day and I suddenly had the thought of wanting to see a clear sky. I thought of pulling a Jackson Pollock. "A clear sky in the style of Jackson Pollock," I said. I didn't know how that would turn out but it sounded like a good idea but guess what? It didn't manifest into anything at all. That idea flew to who knows where as soon as my eyes landed on a blank page of my sketchbook. I was suddenly at a loss on what to do. I saw everyone in class trying to do at least something and there I was, just sitting. I looked around trying to find an inspiration but the walls were white and the artworks displayed were too difficult for my level. I looked around again and there it was. My classmate's dress. It may sound funny but I really liked the patterns on it. I thanked my past self who thought of printing dots on some pages of her sketchbook. I quickly took ...

Philippians 4:13

“Calligraphy is the tongue of the hand, the delight of the conscience, the ambassador of the mind, the inheritor of the thought, the weapon of knowledge, the companion of an absent friend, the converser with them over long distances, the depository of secrets, and register of events.”-    Ibrahim Ibn Muhammad Ash-Shabayni My output is a calligraphy of my favorite Bible verse which is Philippians 4:13. I used my notebook, my calligraphy pen, and my color pens. I used the blue pen to design the cursive letters and the orange pen for the words that I want to emphasize. I am not the literary kind of person who loves writing poems, essays, novels, short stories or whatsoever. I hate doing those things but I just love writing beautifully. I love designing letters or words. Since elementary, I’ve been joining a slogan contest, but I never tried joining essay or poem writing because I don’t have the skills for that. Same as to calligraphy I also love doing hand-letter...

Art defined as the expression of ideology, and the application of human creativity enables us to make our own. We are empowered by this simple yet diverse word to make something out of our miserable, beautiful and complicated “selves”. We and art co-exist even without us realizing it. My piece of art though not considerably artistic and deep was a product of my emotion, ideas and creativity.     I am not a talented person but I was still inspired to do a literary piece, as it is the closest art to me. It was a free- versed poem in Hiligaynon based on my experience and journey inside UPV. The happiness of passing UPCAT, the excitement of being admitted to UP, the anxiety of getting in and starting to study like what it seems to be here in UP, the downfall, the depression of failing, the rekindling of once forgotten embers, the glory I sought, the people; we’re my dreams and hope as I got in UP. My piece makes me relieved that ...

Folded Like Origami

Image
For my artwork, I did an origami of an elephant and cherry blossom flowers. Using available materials, I chose the construction paper as an alternative to origami paper for my medium. I also used scissors to cut the papers into square since most origami starts with a square base. I instantly chose the elephant because they are very adorable giants and cherry blossom flowers because they are pretty, simple, and easy to make with the available time I have left. The two shows my love for nature which represents the fauna and flora, respectively. I almost even forgot that I can do art. Ever since elementary, I recognized my lack of creative talent. I remember just hating activities and projects that would make us draw, paint, and whatnot. Although, I appreciate artworks very much – I love going to the museum, theaters, admiring personal artworks of my friends, and even looking around places for different forms of art. Fortunately, I learned about  origami  or...
